THE INTUITIVE CLIMBER
Say hello to fueling with intention + making peace with food
Learn how to leverage nutrition to support your climbing while healing your relationship with food.
Okay, so it’s no secret that you can’t climb your hardest without dialing in your nutrition.
What, when, and how you fuel ultimately affects
Your energy levels
How strong your muscles and bones are
Your ability to concentrate
How likely you are to get injured or sick
How well you recover
Your overall physical health and longevity
That’s all fairly obvious, right?
Here’s what’s not so obvious:
A negative relationship with food hijacks your ability to fuel.
What’s more than that, it takes up so much brain space and keeps you from living your fullest, freest, life.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Thinking of certain foods as “good” while others are “bad”
Eating what you “should” versus what you actually want
Feeling like you have to “earn” the right to eat (or on the flip side make up for “overeating”)
Feeling guilty when you eat a “bad” food, or too much, or too late at night
Skipping meals or making yourself wait to eat when you’re hungry
Feeling out of control around food, which may lead you to avoid certain things or not keep them at home
This is what disordered eating looks like.
Disordered eating is the norm in the climbing community thanks to diet culture and a lighter-is-better-at-all-costs mindset.
If you’ve never heard of diet culture before, in a nutshell it’s a belief system that’s obsessed with thinness and moralizes food, making you feel “good” for eating cauliflower rice and guilty for eating bread.
It’s oppressive, damaging to health and well-being, and e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e.
We learned it from our parents and they learned it from their parents.
But ultimately, stressing about food and feeling like you can’t trust your body make it impossible to fuel freely and strategically.
All too often climbers
Are so afraid of “overeating” that they end up underfueling
Avoid carbs (your body’s #1 energy source)
Worry about eating processed foods that are perfect for certain fueling situations
And are disconnected from their hunger and fullness cues
Diet culture promises to give you the body and performance of your dreams for the price of a little “discipline,” but only leaves you poorly fueled, not to mention feeling miserable and obsessed with food.
If you’re going to get stronger and climb harder you need to heal your relationship with food.
Only by unlearning diet culture are you free to actually fuel the way your body needs you to (plus free to live your darn life!).
It takes time and practice, but I can show you how!
The Intuitive Climber
The group coaching program that teaches women climbers to fuel with intention and make peace with food through intuitive eating.
Learn
Learn the ins and outs of fueling and understand what intuitive eating is, how it works, and how to integrate it into your life.
Connect
Meet other like-minded women who want to fuel without dieting, and make progress together.
Transform
Translate the knowledge and skills you gain into meaningful changes that actually last.
The end result: you feeling at peace with food and confident in your fueling.
You don’t have to figure this out on your own!
It’s all too easy to feel like you’re the only one who is lost when it comes to fueling and stuck with a negative relationship with food.
That’s how I felt, and so many of my 1:1 athletes have said the same exact thing.
But you are not alone! The Intuitive Climber brings like-minded women together in intentionally small cohorts (up to 8 women) to create community and foster growth.
This is a space where you can come as you are, ask your questions, share your challenges, and celebrate your wins!
Hey there!
I’m Chiara Jorritsma MS, RDN, CDN.
I’m a registered dietitian, climber, and resource for all things sports nutrition and intuitive eating.
And I know what it’s like to have a negative relationship keep you from fueling for climbing (and living your best life).
After suffering from an eating disorder for a long and miserable decade, I stumbled across intuitive eating and started my own journey of making peace with food.
Having a positive relationship with food has changed EVERYTHING and I’ve watched the same transformation happen for dozens upon dozens of climbers through 1:1 coaching over the past several years.
I created The Intuitive Climber to teach you how to make peace with food and fuel for climbing, give you the support and accountability you need to actually apply what you learn in a way that is practical and sustainable, and connect you with climbers who are on the same journey—all in a format more accessible and affordable than 1:1 coaching.
You deserve to be free from a negative relationship with food and free to fuel the way your body needs you to so you can climb your hardest and live your best life.
You never felt out of control around food, deprived, or guilty
You kept all your favorite foods at home without worrying about overeating them
You knew exactly how and when to fuel strategically for climbing and recovery but in a way that's flexible and free of rules
You had more compassion and respect for your body and accepted it vs judged it
Imagine what it would feel like if…
You climbed and trained and moved because you want to, not because you needed to "earn" the right to eat
You were more comfortable and confident at the crag and in the gym
You had more energy and actually felt fueled for your sessions
You got back the brain space occupied by negative thoughts about food and you body
This is what happens in this program.

Questions people ask before saying "Heck yes!" to The Intuitive Climber
-
The day and time will be determined based on everyone’s availability and calls will be recorded if there’s a week you can’t make it.
-
Yes! I intentionally keep the group small so that everyone gets a chance to share their progress, challenges, and questions each week. There’s also a HUGE opportunity in the 1:1 coaching call and the individual nutrition assessment bonuses!
-
Absolutely not! If you love climbing, you’re welcome in this group. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been climbing for over a decade or less than 3 months, if you’re constantly at the crag or only climb in the gym. All women climbers are welcome!
-
The hardest part of making peace with food is pushing through the reverse honeymoon phase in the very beginning. There are a lot of reasons why we don’t push through and it’s hard for me to say without getting to know you more, but every single one of the climbers I’ve worked with have made it past this! It’s just a matter of knowing what steps to take and having the support to take them. That being said, having a therapist is ideal, but I get that therapy is not accessible for everyone.
If you were going to only work with a therapist ideally they’d be equipped for disordered eating and eating disorders. Otherwise there’s a risk of them unintentionally projecting their own unresolved issues with food and body image.
-
Yes! I offer an extended payment plan up to 12 months (or $58/mo) and you can choose however many payments works for you. There’s no markup and you get all the bonuses regardless of whether or not you pay in full.
-
TIC is for climbers who identify as women in a way that’s meaningful to them.
-
Because this is a group program (vs an online course) I’ll be sending you the pre-recorded modules and workbooks every week so it doesn’t get super overwhelming. If there’s something that you want to cover ASAP chances are it’s in one of the bonus guides or we can chat about it in one of the 1:1 calls!
-
The biggest time investment is for the modules and coaching calls and to get the most out of the program ideally you would set aside ~2 hours a week.
Outside of that it’s implementing the action steps we chose and if we did a good job with those, they should feel super realistic and exciting vs like homework!
-
These are a time for us to connect, check in, share wins and challenges from the week, recap the new content, cover questions, and get clear on goals.
-
TBD! This program will run at least once more in 2023.
